How do I setup a router?
I have three computers in the house (2 desktops and a laptop) and an internet connection divided to all three through a router by cable. The connection used to require a manual connection by the desktop icon, but once the router was installed it was permanently on, simultaneously on all three computers.
Last week, my internet provider had some work done in my neighborhood, to update and modernize, and I had no internet, cable and phone for a day (it is the same provider). The next day the cable and phone came back on but the internet didn't. I called them and they told me that it isn't their fault, it is because of my router. And they were right because when I went to Network Connections my Local Area Connection was on. I was in a hurry so I simply setup my old internet connection (PPPoE), and inserted the computer's cable in the socket my Provider installed instead of the router, thus disconnecting the router. The problem is that this way I only get one computer connected at a time and it is driving everyone crazy. I wasn't the one that first installed the router so I don't know how to do it, just that at some point I will have to be asked for an user and password. This is the info I can provide: all the computers are running on Windows XP SP3, and the router is an ASUS Wireless-G Router RT-G32, that has the manual missing. If you need anymore info let me know.

Re: How do I setup a router?
I would start by going to this asus link.
Routers can usually be reset to their factory default settings, including the admin password, by holding the reset button while powering on the unit. When you follow the link above, you should be able to find the owners manual. Note that from this page you can also change the default language. |

Re: How do I setup a router?
Before doing anything else, I would power cycle the Modem and router. Turn off ( or unplug ) the Modemm Router and all pc's . Then turn on the modem and wait a few minutes for the lights to stabilize, turn on the Router, then one pc at a time
