wireless fail (a little)
i have a linksys router (2.4gig speed booster) connected to a scientific atlantic cable modem. i have 2 laptops that have great connection no matter where i am in the house. i have a desktop at the other end of the house that has low connectivity (around 11-25mbps) or even lower. i have tried a linksys wireless card and usb card and both have the same result of low connectivity. is there a way to get the desktop's connectivity to be as good as the laptops i have?

Re: wireless fail (a little)
The further you get the less power you get. If there are walls and appliances in the path you get interference. If a wired solution is impractical or impossible another solution would be to use a powerline bridge kit to create a hard-wired connection in the room the PC is in.

Re: wireless fail (a little)
I see your on xp, this will not make the connection show stronger but may indeed help with the loss of connection. click on start, control panel, network connections. once there right click on your wireless connection and go to properties. you will see 2 boxes at the bottom that are checked, uncheck the bottom one. Good Luck !!

Re: wireless fail (a little)
Also, a couple other things to try would be repairing the connection from Network Connections, and adjusting the antennas on the router.
