lost 4Mb of internet speed :(

recently virginmedia upgraded their 2meg bb to 10meg, however i can only get 6 of the 10, at first i thaught it was a gradual thing until i used my dads pc which had the full 10meg.
only thing i can think of is that i use a long ethernet cable (10m)

Ethernet built into motherboard (GA-MA790X-DS4)

Re: lost 4Mb of internet speed :(

Is the cable rated Cat5 or better? Cat5e and Cat6 are best for that type of speed.

Re: lost 4Mb of internet speed :(

Try running some tests at www.speedtest.net and post the results. It's best if you can do this at night when net use is slower.
