I upgraded to DSL about a month and a half ago and ever since then I have had an annoying problem. Whenever I am playing music or video content (be it content from my hard drive or content that is streaming) and I am loading a webpage or other content on the Internet, the music or video will stutter very badly. One of my friends suggested that I should get a router for my DSL modem, as they feel that what's causing the problem is that CPU cycles are being used when I load Internet content and therefore it's interfering with the music or video. However, I have a 4 GB Quad Core processor and so I wanted a second opinion before springing for a router.
I am using a system purchased just three months ago new with Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 64 bit version. My DSL modem is a Westell Model 6100 and is connected using Ethernet. |
