PCI network adaptor connected but unrecognized
hi, I have recently reinstalled windows xp home edition onto my dell pc and now I am having trouble establishing a network via a PCI wireless adaptor.
The adaptor is unmistakenly mounted on the computer correctly, necessary software is installed and the network modem is turned on, but the computer indicates that the network card is unplugged and is unable to scan for SSID and IP address. I have also tried using a different card but the results are the same. Please help. Thanks in advance |

Re: PCI network adaptor connected but unrecognized
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc
Please respond to all the following steps.
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt: In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command: Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command. IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: PCI network adaptor connected but unrecognized
I do not see a category of "network adaptors" for some reason. There is a yellow question mark on the "other devices" category and everything under it has a yellow question mark and an exclamation mark: ethernet controller, PCI device, SM bus controller and video controller (VGA compatible). No other categories have such markings.
The only thing that shows up after the IPCONFIG /ALL command is "Windows IP Configuration"....nothing else worth noting. |
