comcast cable usb

In need of some help getting my pc connected to the internet through the usb port to the comcast cable modem.

Im trying to connect a pc with windows 98 through the usb port and I have no clue what im doing. Ive installed the drivers for the modem, WebSTAR_2000_Series_USB_drvrs_v.3.2.3(?), and it says its there but i cant get a connection with it. any help would be appreciated.

Modem numbers :
219822297
dPC2100R2

Wrote these down but forgot to put what they are sorry. I will get that info if someone needs it to help. If you need for info let me know.

Why not use Ethernet, it's a much better option for networking?

Well then I would have to buy another router/cable and thats not really an option(im broke). Usb was working fine on that pc till I switched from a qwest modem to a comcast one.
Last time I got it working by using the qwest disk that came with the modem this time I got no such disk.

Since you have a modem with an Ethernet connection, all you need is a $3 cable.
