Re-booting Modem?
I use a satellite Internet and the problem of lost communication is becoming more common.
The recommended solution is to power down the modem, router and computer, wait thirty seconds and re-power them in order, each time waiting for the last unit to get up and running. It works, but when it started it was about once a year, now close to twice a week. I use Xplornet satellite, a D-Link WGB 1310 router and a XP home machine wired in, and a Vista home Laptop on wireless. When it fails, neither computers is able to access the internet. In my trials, I only re-booted the wired machine. Anyone have any advice on the cause, or longer term solution?
