Access Point Question
I have a Linksys Wireless-B Access Point with a Wireless-B USB Network Adapter, Model #: WAP11 - Access Point & WUSB11v4 Network Adapter.
Here is a picture of it: http://i.ebayimg.com/10/!BUiKCz!BWk~$(KGrHgoH-DgEjlLlgJ6SBKN+HiKR!!~~_1.JPG (copy & paste the link since it won't display correctly) And I believe this is the correct product listing in amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/re.../dp/B00005854B I got it for $10. Quite a steal if you ask me. I was wondering if it was possible to use it as a wireless bridge. I believe this is what it's meant for: Internet -> Modem -> Router -> Access Point -> Wifi enabled device This is what I was hoping I could do: Internet -> Modem -> Router -> Access Point -> Ethernet connection Here's my router: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ksys%20wrt54gs I was hoping I could take the wireless output from my router and convert it to a wired connection using the access point. It has one ethernet port in the back. Just wondering if it's possible since it's pretty much useless to me otherwise, except as a signal boost. Thanks! Re: Access Point Question
Access points are designed to be transmitters.
If you want a receiver, there are many cheap USB versions out there.

Re: Access Point Question
It Will Work With u r router.
Connect The A.p To the router. open i.e login to the a.p using the ipaddress 192.168.1.251 Match The wireless settings of the router with the a.p i.e wireless network name(ssid) And Sec ( only wep will work ). Under the a.p mode select Access Point Client put the mac address of the router( u can find the mac address of the router,If u loggin to the router and click on the status tab ) connect the a.p to the x-box with a cable and u will be ready to go. but only problem is using a B standard access point u can get speed upto max 11Mbps. |

Re: Access Point Question
My connection ranges from 1.5 MB/s to 3 MB/s so it shouldn't be a problem for Xbox Live. I'll just make sure I never use it for my PC. I'll try it out in a second, sounds good. Thanks!

Re: Access Point Question
After much trouble I finally did a hard reset. I did exactly as you said, but it didn't work. I tested it on my Xbox 360 and desktop computer via ethernet cable but neither of them worked. It would look like it was connecting then it would just not work. On my Xbox the error message said something along the lines of "can't find ip" or something like that. If you need the exact message I can do it again.

Re: Access Point Question
Have u matched the wireless settings as u have on the router,Name and security(only wep).
May be the LAN mac address which u need to give on a.p might be given incorrectly. disconnect the power from the router and a.p.first connect the power to the router and then wait for 30 sec and connect to the a.p and check.if still not working try to ping a.p ipaddress wireless. if it is not ping then we need to check whats the firmware on the a.p if old needs to be updated. let me know what is the firmware version on the a.p. |
