NEW MEMBER~I cannot connect to the internet

I currently have a motorola modem and a Linksys router. I operate a wireless card on my laptop (internet works fine) and also a Linksys Wireless-G card on my Desktop HP pavillion (INTERNET NOT WORKING) and a DELL desktop, in which the modem and router are physically hooked up to. I've tried using the winsockxpfix.exe option and it still is not working. I have tried unplugging all cords from modem and router then re-connecting them and still the internet does not work on my HP pavillion Desktop. Please help. This is driving me crazy. I am by no means a tech wizard, but I consider myself to be pretty self sufficient. The computer seems to be acquiring network address for a longer than normal time. Then it displays "limited to no connectivity". Please help!

Re: NEW MEMBER~I cannot connect to the internet

First off, does the failing machine connect if you use a wired connection to the router? If not, try this.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2/SP3.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands:

Note: Type only the text in bold for the following commands.

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, type: netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults, type: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reboot the machine.

If wired connections work, then I'd remove ALL the stored wireless profiles from the failing machine and search for the network again. Enter the PROPER encryption key and wsee if you can connect. Did this machine ever connect wirelessly?

Re: NEW MEMBER~I cannot connect to the internet

I have tried that and it doesn't seem to be working either. It did connect wirelessly just fine for months. One night I decided to delete all of my cookies, and the internet stopped working. It does find the network, but unable to connect to internet because it is unable to/invalid TCP/IP configurations. I have tried contacting Linksys tech support and they re-did all configurations for the wireless router. Changed it from WPA-Personal to WEP 64bit.

oh, and the wired desktop and my Laptop (wireless) connects just fine. It's only the HP Desktop (wireless) that is giving me problems.

Re: NEW MEMBER~I cannot connect to the internet

Try connecting without any encryption at all. How did you delete your cookies? Have you tried a system restore?

Re: NEW MEMBER~I cannot connect to the internet

I have tried system restore as well. I deleted my cookies through the "cookie folder". I can't connect without any encryption either. Ugh!

Re: NEW MEMBER~I cannot connect to the internet

Open up a command prompt (Start > run > cmd)
Type the following bolded commands and post the results for each affected machine.

ipconfig /all
ping www.google.com
ping 74.125.53.99

Note: To post results of commands, alternate click on the top of the command prompt > edit > select all >
alternate click on the top of the command prompt > edit > copy > paste in a message here. If you are on
a computer that can't connect to the internet then paste the contents in a text document and save it to a
portable media like a flash drive, then use an internet capable machine to post the contents.

Re: NEW MEMBER~I cannot connect to the internet

Try enabling n disabling ur wireless card, try reparing, or reinstall drivers for ur card, try updating drivers for ur card too. It should be a problem with either ur comp or the wireless card, try using the card on a different comp if it doesn't work may be a problem with ur card, if it works its a problem with ur comp.
