Wireless Router Cannot Connect to the Internet
Hi there guys.
I can't seem to find any available thread for this, so I am posting it as a new thread. I have been trying to solve this problem I have been facing. What happens is when I connect my ZTE ZX DSL831 Modem to my Prolink Wireless router, the computers networked to the router (cable and wireless) do not have access to the internet. All 3 necessary lights on the Modem all lit and stable. The computers are communicating with the router, and it has also been established that the router is communicating with the modem. However, when I ping the modem's IP from the computer, I do not get a reply. This is really puzzling me. When I directly connect the modem to the desktop and manually connect to the internet (Streamyx), I can actualy access the internet. Any ideas what the problem might be? |

Re: Wireless Router Cannot Connect to the Internet
clyde 123: yup, DHCP is turned on.
johnwill: i have done as per ur instructions, but the wireless still refuses to work. when i have accessed the router page, the main page says that the router is ready to connect but there is no PPP network or something to that effect. don't know if it is worth mentioning or not. and when i am directly connected to the modem instead of via the router, the status of the local area connection is of limited connectivity, but the speed of the internet seems to be normal. |

Re: Wireless Router Cannot Connect to the Internet
The ZTE ZX DSL831 is a modem/router, so I suspect what you have is two routers with the same base address.
When connected to the Prolink Wireless router (model unknown), please post the following information. Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt: In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command: Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command. IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.
