Connected but can't browse-at wits end
windows xp sp2
wireless connection: linksys wmp54g v4.3 wireless adapter to matched router. Connection was working fine and now I can't browse (With either IE or Firefox). (other computer running same wireless equipment connects without a problem) Never had Norton or macafee on the system Firewall and Nod32 turned off to test with no results I have tried: 1. netsh int ip reset reset.log & netsh winsock reset catalog 2. ipconfig/flushdns , ipconfig/release, & ipconfig/renew 3. I can ping all of the following: PING <computer_IP_address> 192.168.1.102 PING <default_gateway_address>192.168.1.1 PING <dns_servers>66.51.206.100 PING 206.190.60.37 PING yahoo.com All pings get the 4 x 32 byte reply 4. I have swapped wireless adapters with the other "working" computer adapter not the problem (works fine in "working" computer) 5. I've run winsockfix 6. I've updated the driver for the adapter. I have run out of things to try. ![]() Below are results Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Microsoft(R) Windows DOS (C)Copyright Microsoft Corp 1990-2001. Re: Connected but can't browse-at wits end
You just ran all possible test and it didn't show any problem with your connection. Possible computer setting problem since other computer connected wireless can browse.
You can try checking your computer proxy, internet option > connection > lan settings > make sure nothing is checked. check security settings as well, make sure they're on default. check and make sure IP and DNS is not hardcoded, start > control panel > network connection > right click LAN > properties > select TPC/IP > properties > both IP and DNS should be on automatically detect and there should be no numbers inside the boxes. if still no browse, try going on safemode and choose "safemode with networking" and try if you can browse using IE or firefox. |
