I'm interesting in this config:!

Dear All,
I'm having problem with my current router (siemens) that it needs to restart every half an hour.
So I'm trying to change with another router(linksys). The thing is that in our building, internet configuration is different than others.
we have one more device other than router ,i think converter from fiber to ADSL which is provided by our great ISP.(i don't know what it is).

one LAN cable from that device is coming to wall-mounted socket .
From socket one cable (LAN RJ45 with 4 internal cables only) connected to router using LAN (RJ 45)

our router is normal ADSL siemens router and it's got 1 input (RJ 11) for ADSL and 4 output(RJ 45) for LAN.

When i check the router setup, it is something like the other normal configruation, with PPPOE ,user name, password.

i copied all the setup setting to linksys(new router) and connect all the cable as it is.
not working.

ok!.
i made one special cable with RJ45(with 4 cables) for socket side and RJ11 for router side to connect to ADSL input.

test with both router. not working.

i check with ISP. they r asking for service charges.

I'm still searching in the internet.no solution yet.

Kindly Help me.

Re: I'm interesting in this config:!

Not truly familiar with your setup, but one of the basic things to check is see if you have a link light from the wall (ISP service) to your router. If you don't have a light at your router, then you may have to get a cross-over cable from the wall to your router, or from the fiber to ADSL converter, there may be a switch or button to change it from a straight-through connection to an uplink.

If you are making the "special" I assume they are cross-over cables on both sides, you may need to just convert one side (either the socket side or the router side), otherwise, you are just cancelling out the signal.

I bet you is just something as simple as that. Oh, and if you really want to test if it's the router (or not), connect an endpoint, such as a laptop or PC, directly to the ADSL modem's output, bypass the router to make sure you have connectivity in the first place.

Re: I'm interesting in this config:!

You can't use that Linksys WAG-325N on that connection as a router, since it doesn't have an Ethernet WAN connection. That's an ADSL modem/router.

Re: I'm interesting in this config:!

So, which one are you trying to use. Since they won't work together as routers, you need to pick one.

Re: I'm interesting in this config:!

OK, so you've picked the Linksys.

You need to use the same user name/password and VCI/VPI values you use for the working one to configure the WAN connection on the Linksys.

Re: I'm interesting in this config:!

What does the WAN or modem configuration page look like in that unit? Obviously, there has to be a place to enter account details like the user/password and VCI/VPI, or it would never connect!
