2Wire Modem power cycling randomly.
Having a bit of an issue, and can't seem to find much to sort it out.
My 2Wire modem is completely resetting every couple of minutes. Power goes off, then comes back on and reconnects. ISP assures me it's on my end. Modem has been tested, and checked out fine. I only have one lead. The problem has been isolated to the time when my roommate connects his laptop to our wireless. If his laptop is off, our connection is stable. As soon as he powers up, and his wireless card connects, our moden powers down and restarts. It's a Dell, with built-in wireless, running XP. I've checked the connection settings, and they're fine. Scanned for viruses and spyware...nothing. No odd programs running in the background. Can't find a single reason why it's doing this. Let me know what details you need to assist me, and I'll provide them. Help me Tech Support Forums, you're my only hope. |

Re: 2Wire Modem power cycling randomly.
Sorry, but if your actual power isn't going off and causing this, I think it's the 2Wire gateway that's broken. It sounds like it's resetting itself.
How exactly was the modem "tested"? How about a replacement?
