How to improve DSL quality signal

Greetings! I share a DSL service with a friend. All equipments is in his apartment. The distance between my apt and his apt is about 10 meters. I use wireless system but the quality of signal is regular to poor. I would like to know what equipment I need use to improve the wireless signal quality. The new equipment required to be conected to the principal computer that have the DSL service or I can install the equipment in my computer?

It's against the ISP terms of service to share your connection, hence it's also against the Tech Support Forum Rules & Conduct.
