Bittorrent overloading my router?

OK Ive been using bittorent (bit tyrant) for a long time. I have recently changed my network configurtion due to switch in ISPs. I had DSL with a ADSL modem/wireless router combo. I bought a Belkin wireless router to hook up to the cable modem when it comes. I went ahead and starting using the belkin wireless router and turned off wireless from the DSL modem. I did this so that when I get cable (tuesday) all I will have to do is plug in the wireless router and Ill be good.

Enough with the back story. Since Ive had the belkin router Ive had no issues untill I used BT last night. It downloads on BT but I cant use IE and my other computers/xbox loose the internet. I have set the active connection in BT to 500 becuase I read that somewhere and it didnt fix it. I searched and found nothing. Please help!!!
