Hi I keep getting kicked on farcry pc game... The reason is that I am "loosing key packets" ???
I am not sure if the reason is because my son is on his xbox live at the same time. I have a 750 broadband connecting through cable and wireless. They are both routed through a modem. We both have our own ip address. I am not sure what packet loss means..... Any advise would be a benefit. Thanks

It doesn't seem like much, but when you think of how many packets go flying back and forth (a packet, especially a gaming one, will be about 512 bytes- letters- or less), 2% is a whole lot of packets.
As to the cause, I don't think it could be caused by the xbox being on at the same time- it's probably just the wireless connection being less than it should. If you move the WAP (wireless access point) closer to the computer or vice-versa, does the packet loss improve? |

not sure what to move closer, do you mean move the modem closer to the computer. I have the modem connected in my sons room and there is 10 metres cable between the modem and the computer, do you mean there could be a packet loss there ?
when i say cable and wireless, that is the provider, all my services are provided through a cable, not a satellite dish. The main cable that comes into the house is in my sons room which is 10 metres from my computer. could this be the cause, or should i contact my provider. thanks
