Problems with Actiontec GT704-WG/Linksys WUSB54GC
Okay, let me see if I can explain this right. About 50% of the time when I'm on my pc, which is a crappy emachine pc that's about five months old running Vista, and I'm playing World of Warcraft on a private server, my Linksys WUSB54GC wireless adapter quits working, requiring me to restart my computer. After I do, everything works fine, until I get back on Warcraft. I think it might be my router because the dhcp settings were changed recently which is when the problems started, and occasionally, the router itself locks up, requiring a physical reboot. When I go to the device manager after my wireless adapter quits, it shows the device as connected and enabled, even if I disconnect it, and if I try to disable the device, it crashes the device manager. As far as I know, I'm the only person in the household with the problem. There is also a pc running xp with the same wireless adapter that doesn't seem to have this problem, although that pc isn't used for world of warcraft. It would be too much of a hassle for me to move my computer so I could check if I had the problem connected via ethernet cable, especially considering that does nothing to solve it because I can't keep my computer connected that way. If it helps, the DHCP settings changed on the router were changed to try to free up the 192.168.0.1 IP address to allow ICS between my pc and my xbox 360, but if I do that, then the router's allowed IP range is always the router's ip (in this case 192.168.0.20) plus one (192.168.0.21 - 192.168.0.255). That's a different issue, but if anyone has the solution to that, it would be appreciated. Sorry if this is long and/or hard to follow. I'd be happy to clear up any confusion if needed. Thanks in advance for your help if you can give it, and your concern if you can't help.
