Belkin adsl modem - web interface prob

Hi
I'm trying to set up the Belkin adsl wireless modem for my neighbour and have two problems. Firstly I can't get onto the web user interface when I put in the 192.168.2.1 - have no idea what I'm doing wrong, the ethernet cable is connected and to the phone line and all the right lights are on on the modem box.

Secondly one of their computers is a desktop running ME but has no ethernet cable port. Is there any alternative connection I could try?

Am using a Belkin USB for the desktop and a Belkin laptop card for their laptop - thought that would reduce hassle. Have successfully managed to set up my own wireless using an SMC modem but am no expert. Any suggestions gladly accepted.

First, reset the Belkin router to factory defaults, just to remove any issue in that regard. Second, make sure the TCP/IP properties in Network Properties are set to obtain an IP and DNS address automatically.

As far as the ME machine, I'd pickup an Ethernet NIC, they're about $10 or so.

Finally, I'd consider posting the exact model numbers of all equipment, the versions of Windows you're running, and the ISP you're connecting to. It helps to know some of this stuff.

thanks for that

Have discovered that the signal is weak because neighbours are so far from a BT substation, which explains why couldn't connect to UTV ISP. BT are coming out to boost the signal which should sort that bit out.

Will pick up a network card tomorrow for the desktop and hopefully will be in business.

Thanks
