Internet disconnects when 3 or 4 ports are used

I'm using a linksys router and it has 4 ports on it.If ever i connect 3 or 4 ports at a time my internet constantly disconnects every 10 minutes. To fix the problem i can Disable then enable my connection.I can also remove my plug from my computer and plug it back in and it works for another 10 minutes.
My OS is windows xp.My routers IP adress is 192.168.1.1(not sure if thats the adress but when i type that in internet explorer my router comes up).

I am not very experienced with computers so please try to keep it simple.

Thanks!

Re: Internet disconnects when 3 or 4 ports are used

Edit:Mozilla firefox will say Connection interrupted when it disconnects.
I have also noticed that if i disable then enable my connection again it resets my 10 minute "timer"
(sorry for double posting i cant find the edit button)

Re: Internet disconnects when 3 or 4 ports are used

Some things you can try here.
  1. For wireless connections, change the channel on the router, I like channels 1, 6, and 11 in the US.
  2. For wireless connections, try moving either the wireless router/AP or the wireless computer. Even a couple of feet will sometimes make a big difference.
  3. Update the firmware to the latest version available on the manufacturer's site.
  4. Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure.
  5. Update the network drivers (wired and wireless) on your computer to the latest available.

Many times these measures will resolve a lot of intermittent issues.
