dsl problems

Hi,

I have 2 dsl connections both with the westell 6100 modem. Both connections stop working at the same time. When i go to 192.168.1.1 it show that Im connected, however, when I pull up a browser it says server not found.

Is there something wrong with Verizon itself? I tried calling but it is going to to be longer then a 30 min wait. Its also like 3 am EST at the time im doing this post.

Re: dsl problems

I am not on the same system but had probs with my DSL modem yesterday. I pinged the server with ipconfig and lost 0 packets with all 4 coming back. I tried all the usual things of restarting my PC, repairing connection, powering down the modem with all lines disconnected and waiting a few minutes before reconnecting everything and powering back up. Nothing worked.

I made the call to Embarq and stuck it out listening and going through the automated trouble shooter before talking to a real person. The very polite and friendly woman quickly took me through the steps and I was online in no time at all.... I actually enjoyed the chat while she was waiting for me to execute the steps I needed to do on my end of the comm line. It was a simple matter of doing a "hard reset" of my modem.... the little hole in the back of the modem. I pushed the small reset buttom while she watched progress on her end and told me when I could release the button.

I was also informed that my modem is outdated (2 yrs old) and I will be getting a new one in a few days.

Sometimes it is better to tough it out and talk to the DSL provider..... the problem might be very minor.
