wireless broadband bigpond keeps dropping out

Hi,
I use at laptop , mostly at work, and to connect to the internet, i use a bigpond BP3-USB wireless broadband card, that plugs into a usb port. My problem is ongoing, after a few hours of use , i loose connection, even though the ui says my connection is either very good, or good (4/5 and 3/5 bars). i am using the computer in a building close to an airport, and would take outside interferance into consideration , with connection issues. like i say, its ok for a couple of hours, then drops out. i work mostly at night, when using my laptop. at the time it drops out, ive noticed the harddrive winds up a bit more than usual (*the fan not sure, like its working hard). i was wondering if any internal computer softwares would make an impact on why i loose connection. ie firewalls. how do i best configure my computer, too hopefully stop this annoying situation happening (dropping out)
