dsl problem
I installed an ethernet card into my computer, so that I would be able to use a dsl modem. The card installation went well, and everything seems to be fine, yet I can't connect to any internet sites. I plugged another computer (one that already had an ethernet card) into the modem and it works fine. Thus, leading me to believe that the problem is the card not the modem. Can anyone offer some help on how to proceed. What can I do to determine what is wrong????

a few things to try....
simple... but still.... you may need to install the drivers and software for DSL Modem. you may need to go into Network connection in Contol Panel and enable the LAN and the 1394 Connection if you are behind a firewall update that make sure password and username is correct check TCP/IP port allowances [sorry i not sure how to go about this... just know that this was a problem for me once before. i forgot how i resolved it.] try power cycling the modem if all else fails i will maybe think of something else or hopefully someone will post that knows some other thing that could be the possibility welcome to TSF.com btw ![]() |

If you'd tell us the ISP you use, the exact model of the modem, and the indications you get in Device Manager for the NIC, we could be of more help.
