Vonage Router Problems

I currently have SBC DSL service using a 2Wire Home Portal modem and all works fine. Today, I installed a Linksys RT31P2 Router supplied by Vonage. I connected the 2Wire modem to the WAN port and my PC to the LAN 1 port and the phone to the phone port 1. All works great EXCEPT Outlook cannot send out emails. I get the error that Outlook cannot connect to the SMTP server or the server is not responding. Otherwise, I can receive emails, and browse the web. If I connect direct to the modem, all is well again. What gives?

If you install the Vonage adapter in front of your router, you need to go into the configuration of the Vonage adapter and configure your router to be in the DMZ of the Vonage adapter. That will allow unrestricted traffic to/from your router to the Internet.
