Can a new CPU change modemdrivers under winXP?

i installed my new cpu and after that my modem disconnects at any kind of download:
-opening homepages
-downloading files....etc...
nothing happens while using messenger or icq...
its kind of weird
any suggestions?

Hi,

When you add a new CPU, it should not have anything to do with your modem drives. (disclaimer: Anything is possible with a computer) Anyway, why not just reinstall the modem drivers (latest and best downloaded from the manufacturer's website) and see if that fixes it?

tried but didnt work....
next i reinstall windows...perhaps the "clear CMOS" has changed something in the windows registry or something like that:P
