Wireless Router Hack? Please Help
Well my connection started acting weird last night and when I tried to fix it a came upon my site survey results that look like this.
(screen shot of my site survey on my linksys wireless network, ignore the croell one, thats the neighbors.) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...2/wireless.jpg There has been no messing with any systems that I am aware of, I ran spybot search and destroy and updated my avast. It still makes me nervous, however and I have no idea how to fix it. I need the wireless connection but I am worried they can access my computer through that. I didn't even know I could set up a password for it, I've never had any options for that. Can anyone tell me steps on how to fix it, or direct me somewhere I can get my router back and secure it better? |

Re: Wireless Router Hack? Please Help
Perhaps if you'd share the exact make, model, and hardware revision of the wireless router, we could be more help.

Re: Wireless Router Hack? Please Help
hahaha i used to do that to my neighbors lol. thats why you need to give it a password
here's what you do click start, run, type in cmd. in the command box that pops up, type in ipconfig type the number next to default gateway into your internet browser, whether its mozilla firefox, internet explorer... or whatever. that should open up a login screen.for linksys routers, leave username blank, and type in admin for the password. for most others, type in admin for id, and password for the password. for most wireless routers, thats the default. if that doesnt work, google your wireless router brand in google as " "brand name" login default" and see what results you get go in there and under wireless settings or wireless security (depends on brand) find anywhere that you can rename the network. in this case, the spot where you will change it will have the horse fxxxxr part. rename it. then choose wpa-2 personal password, and type in anything you can remember and not forgot, that also isnt too easy for a hacker to crack. throw in some numbers too apply settings, then you are set. be sure to test the connection on all your other components that connect wirelessly, you will need to connect to your new name and use the new password let us know if that works for you
