Pages won't load

Hello everyone,

I have a problem accessing web pages .. as every time i try to i get the error of "The page cannot be displayed"

I have the modem "Alcatel-Lucent"

both "ADSL" AND "USB" lights are on and stable..

Every time I dail a connection it showes that everything is ok and it's connected to the internet but whenever I try to access any website I get the error ..

Can you please help me ?

I forgot to mention that it is a new installed windows Xp ..

Try these simple tests.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

IPCONFIG /ALL

PING <computer_IP_address>

PING <default_gateway_address>

PING <dns_servers>

PING 206.190.60.37

PING yahoo.com

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

<computer_IP_address> - The IP Address of your computer, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

<default_gateway_address> - The IP address of the Default Gateway, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

<dns_servers> - The IP address of the first (or only) address for DNS Servers, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

when i reach this step :

PING <computer_IP_address>

it says that the command is incorrect

Look below the instructions and read the red lines. You'll see that the <computer_IP_address> is a substitution from the data in the IPCONFIG display, not literally that value. That's the reason I put them in red...

do you mean for example like this <233.233.233.233>

I'm not a pro so please, please bear with me step by step

Yes, but leave the <> off the IP address, you don't see them in the IPCONFIG, right?
