Weird problem
I have just received a tiscali wireless router today (Siemens gigaset SE587)
and its connected etc, now i got 4 laptops in this home, and 2 laptops see the wireless network when they search, and 2 dont, now the 2 that dont, do find all other networks (well atleast many). I am running windows XP on both laptops and one of them i am posting from (with a cable in the router, that does work). on this one i am running service pack 3 and on the other one im not too sure. its a weird problem (i get alot of people telling me to switch on the wireless but i CAN find other networks). can anyone help me with this problem? i called the tiscali support but all they said was that they dont do wireless support anymore.. great. anyone know this problem or know anything that can solve this? |

Re: Weird problem
I have been having the same problems. I too am running xp pro w/ sp 3. I haven't been able to find anything really wrong with my network system or wireless card or anything that has to do with the connection. I think there is a problem with operating system.
But what I have been able to do to fix it for say a day or two,, is access your router by typing in its ip address in your browser. once you have the configuration screen up find the wireless settings. look for channel settings and try using a different channel. also make sure that you have it set to recieve both "N" and "G" wireless cards. another thing is to put the radio band setting at it's highest. Try these and I'll check back to see if it worked for you. |

Re: Weird problem
i fixed it, it was the channels, my wireless card could only find upto channel 10(same with the other laptop who couldnt find it) and my router was on channel 13, i dont see how people without a basic knowledge of networking would of find problems like these though.
