Slow Wireless (Speedstream Modem, D-Link Router)

Hi,

I'm having problems with my wireless network speed.

I have a Speedstream 4200 Modem and a D-Link DI-524UP Router.

My wireless connection speed is extremely slow. My computer is plugged directly into the router and my connection is fine with regular speeds but my family use the wireless network for their laptops and keep whinging at me because it's so slow. What can I do about it?

Some things you can try here.

For wireless connections, change the channel on the router, I like channels 1, 6, and 11 in the US.
For wireless connections, try moving either the wireless router/AP or the wireless computer. Even a couple of feet will sometimes make a big difference.
Update the firmware to the latest version available on the manufacturer's site.
Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure.
Update the network drivers (wired and wireless) on your computer to the latest available.

Many times these measures will resolve a lot of intermittent issues.

also try unplugging any 2.4 ghz cordless phones as an analog signal on the same frequency as the router is not good try unplugging them for a day or so. also try messing with the direction of the antenna abit.
