Keep having to power cycle cable modem and router

Problem:
Been working in the office for 4 months and the internet has been working fine, as of recently we've been having intermittent internet connections where our connection is lost.

Here is my setup:
cable modem > 4 port wireless router > 10-port switch

Attempts to remedy:
1) I will try to use Vista's "Diagnose and Repair" utility, and this will work 50% of the time
2) The other half of the time, the "Diagnose and Repair" does not work and throws this error

To fix it, I have to powercycle the cable modem, router and switch and its fine

What should I do to keep this from happening?

Re: Keep having to power cycle cable modem and router

Well, I'd start by addressing issues that might affect the router.

Some things you can try here.
  1. For wireless connections, change the channel on the router, I like channels 1, 6, and 11 in the US.
  2. For wireless connections, try moving either the wireless router/AP or the wireless computer. Even a couple of feet will sometimes make a big difference.
  3. Update the firmware to the latest version available on the manufacturer's site.
  4. Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure.
  5. Update the network drivers (wired and wireless) on your computer to the latest available.

Many times these measures will resolve a lot of intermittent issues.
