No Internet with Local Area Connection but Wireless works fine.

Hi,

I am hoping that someone can help me.

I am currently running an HP Wireless Media Centre PC, using a standard ADSL Modem that is connected to the Ethernet Port.

I also am running a Linksys Wireless Router.

My Problem is, when the Local connection is connected i have no internet access (using everything; IE, Firefox, Outlook, MSN etc).

When i ping through Command Prompt it doesnt loose any packets.

What is strange is when i Disable the the Area Connection and my wireless is connected i have full internet as per normal.

i would prefer my desktop to be 'hard wired' into the net rather than using the wireless.

Is this a common problem or can someone help with this very frustrating matter ?

I'm confused. If you have an ADSL modem and a Linksys wireless router, how exactly are all of these units connected? Exact make/model information and EXACTLY how they're all wired together is required.

I'd also like to see this with the cable connected and not disabled.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.
