Connection Problem

Hey guys, I've been getting constant internet disconnections in the past 3-4 days. I don't really know much about modems/computers but I thought I'd give a try and see if anyone knew anything.

What happens is on the modem, after my internet goes down, all the lights go green.

The power goes red. The USB/DSL/ETHERNET/ACTIVITY all turn green for short period of time, then it retries to connect to the internet.

I found some logs and thought I'd paste them:

PHP Code:

Re: Connection Problem

Register at DSLReports and run their Line Quality Tests. It's best to run this test with a direct wired connection to eliminate any wireless issues from the results. It's useful many times to run this test several times, and we'd like to see each of the results. Post the results link from the top of the test display page for each test run here.

The link to post is near the top of the page and looks like:

If you wish to post this result to a forum, please copy/paste this URL
http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2357195 <- sample only, yours will obviously be different!
and your IP will be disguised.

Copy/paste that link here.

Note: You will have to enable PING (ICMP) request response either in your router (if you have one), or in your computer's firewall for direct modem connections. This is very important to get the most important part of the test to run.

Re: Connection Problem

That looks good. The description sounds like the modem is restarting, that could simply be a defective modem or a power issue. Do you have a UPS for the computer? If so, try connecting the modem and router to that unit as well.

Re: Connection Problem

K well I went and got my router changed up and I thought that would solve the problem, turns out it doesn't.

Now it's really wierd. THe longer I keep my modem unplugged, the longer it stays on afterwards. But it's still cosntantly disconnecting. Non-stop now.

But like I said there is one thing different, the longer I keep it off, the longer it'll stay on for 1 time.

It's really wierd~

Re: Connection Problem

This sure sounds like a defective modem. The only other reason might be malware that is running. Is this a modem/router? Did you already replace the modem part, or is a separate unit?

Re: Connection Problem

Sounds like it to me, or perhaps the ISP's incoming lines.
