Sub Router?

There are 2 Netgear routers at my disposal, one set up and doing the job of 2 cabled machines in an office at home, plus connecting my 3 other machines around the house wirelessly.

I would like the other router to be a sub-router, getting wireless internet from the other only, and then networking my three machines. The Netgear menu suggests that it may be possible - broadcasting to another router. It would give me better control for static IP's.

Has anyone done this before & able to give me suggestions?

You might give us the exact model numbers and hardware revision of these routers, as well as the firmware versions they are running.

Most routers will NOT function in wireless bridge mode, so I'm not at all sure this is going to work out.

I think I may have sold the new router to a friend, so won't go down this road any further. I will remember wireless bridge mode if it comes up again.
