Hey all,
Ok, so I turn on my PC today and it boots up fine etc but I load up firefox and I get no website. Ok I think, i'll just type one in. No luck. So I connect to ventrilo, all fine. I'm on there chatting. Try firefox, nothing. I then try Steam, nothing. Retry or start in offline. Argh! So far what does work is ventrilo and internet explorer.. they both connect to 'net, so far i've found nothing else that does. My router hasn't been changed, i've reset my cable modem etc Then I tried it all again, still the same. I then tried with this PC to see if it was the PC or connection and this one works fine, connects to steam, firefox, ie, vent etc. This PC is on the same network, through the same router and modem etc. When I close firefox after having it open, windows says that it didn't close properly etc and does the diagnostic thing, telling me nothing useful. But it still has 2 firefox processes running in my taskmanager. :S Please, if anyone knows what this is and could help please throw some info my way. It is SO annoying. Long and short, some programs are connecting, some arn't. SOME such as mIRC and NOD32 when they can't connect say about unable to open a socket. Any help appreciated, Cheers! Pete |

Re: Really weird connection problems!? Any help appreciated.
FF opens sockets and doesn't close them because it crashes..
Try uninstalling FF as whole. Then see if you still have connection trouble with any other software. If yes problem is somewhere else. If no FF is the badass.. likely one of your addons actually. Lately FF has done it for me.. went from very good browser to one of the worst ones (since v3) |

Re: Really weird connection problems!? Any help appreciated.
Hmm... I've run Firefox 3.x since it was released, and I've never seen any of these issues.
I'd agree with uninstalling FF and removing all the settings, Make a fresh install and see how it works out.
