upstream issues

xp sp3. recently had the go.google virus. i'm pretty sure it's been removed. running winshark, i don't see any weird traffic.

basically running speedtest, i notice that my upstream is slower than usual. running speedtest on the laptop and it's normal. so, it's definitely something on this computer and for the life of me, i can't figure it out.

any advice would be appreciated. thanks!

D/L TCPOtimizer. Set it to optimal .

i've done that already. i'm provisioned for 768k, so usually i get around 730k ... running speedtest, it would hit past 500k and sometimes even to 600k and then in a less than a second, it would drop down to like 300k-400k and stay there.

Register at DSLReports and run their Line Quality Tests. It's best to run this test with a direct wired connection to eliminate any wireless issues from the results. It's useful many times to run this test several times, and we'd like to see each of the results. Post the results link from the top of the test display page for each test run here.

Note: You will have to enable PING (ICMP) request response either in your router (if you have one), or in your computer's firewall for direct modem connections. This is very important to get the most important part of the test to run.
