Confused Problems with server

OK.. so i got some server problems on my desktop. My laptop is working fine. so i know there is no problem with my router/connection. Im running windows XP on the desktop.. when i restart my computer my internet cant find server until i unplug connection an replug it back in. then i have to wait about 10-20 mins before it allows me to connect to server. but now for some reason i am unable to connect at all. I have tried the unplugging an replugging on Ethernet cable, I have try to revert to saved on my computer..no luck.. i have been doing alot of unloading an loading of new programs an drivers.. so i think somewhere along the way something got lost.

what I think I need to do to fix:
I figure i need to run a registry clean/scan to fix the problem, BC i know this computer has never had one run on it. but i cant connect to internet to download such program.. Im also experiencing freezing when going into stand by. which just started the other day. I have disabled standby for now an would love to know what to do about this..

I have run AVG anti virus an ad-ware.. no luck still

thanks for the help...

Re: Problems with server

A "registry cleaner" is not the solution here.

First, let's reset the stack.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2/SP3.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands:

Note: Type only the text in bold for the following commands.

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, type: netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults, type: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reboot the machine.

Next, I'd like to see some info.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc

Please respond to all the following steps.
  1. Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed.
  2. Are there any devices under Network adapters that have a red x displayed?
  3. Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?

Let's see this as well with the cable connected to a working port on the router.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: Problems with server

I only have one network adapter, and there is no X, ?,! on or next to it
NVIDIA Nforce Networking controller

I look through all sections the only one I did see an X through two sound, video, game controllers,

lexicon win usb audio 1-2 , lexicon win usb audio 3-4 .

this device is my new audio interface. Which could explain why my audio recordings are such poor quality. So I just enabled them. But still getting distortion.. maybe I need to update theses drivers when I get my internet working again.

sorry to get off track but id really like to get both problems fixed….

Re: Problems with server

Did you run the two stack repair commands I posted before running the IPCONFIG /ALL ?

Re: Problems with server

I'm leaning to hardware issues at this point. I'd try a new port on the router and a new cable. If that doesn't change it, the NIC in the machine may be defective.

Re: Problems with server

I just got an error code 22 on my usb audio device. Then i looked up that code online an this is what it said to do

This error is occurs when no IRQs are available on the system and either the BIOS or Windows disables the device. A red X should be apparent on the adapter in device manager, and in the properties window the "disable from all hardware profiles" box should be checked. To resolve this issue the Ethernet adapter will have to be completely uninstalled from the system and some reosurces will have to be freed up on the system before the Ethernet adapter can be properly instaled (changing the PCI slots may also solve the issue).

Re: Problems with server

  1. In Device Manager, View, Show Hidden Devices.
  2. Uninstall all the stuff related to the USB audio and the network adapter.
  3. Unplug the USB audio and leave it out until we get networking working.
  4. Reset the BIOS to defaults and reboot.
  5. Reinstall the network drivers.

Re: Problems with server

You may have to uninstall your firewall to get rid of all of them, I'd do that. The packet scheduler miniport is usually a link to a firewall application.
