Internet Issues - NEED UR HELP!
We have comcast cable internet. We use a motorola modem and a netgear router. Recently, the internet would get cut off randomly. My computer would say it's still connected to NETGEAR but no websites would load. I called comcast and they said our internet was still connected and the problem wasn't on their end. But when he tried to ping us, he couldn't. He recommended updating our router. So we called Netgear and downloaded the new firmware for it. But the problem still persists.
What happens is the orange Activity light on the cable modem becomes permanently orange instead of flashing orange. I also noticed this when there's heavy traffic, such as 20 mins after using bit torrent. Anyone have any clue what could be going on here? |

Re: Internet Issues - NEED UR HELP!
Stop using P2P applications, that's a known issue with many routers.

Re: Internet Issues - NEED UR HELP!
It also happens when I'm not using bittorrent, just less.
i just realized the activity light on the modem is always solid orange and not flickering orange so i apologize for the 1st post. My internet still goes down randomly. It happens when I download things or stream videos (downloading too). Sometimes it'll happen for no apparent reason (no downloading or anything), i'd be on aim and playing a game and it'd just stop working. anybody know whats going on? |

Re: Internet Issues - NEED UR HELP!
Get a new modem from Comcast since that's a likely suspect.
