Help!! How do I get internet on my laptop!

So I just got a new laptop it's a Toshiba Satellite. this one here

and yesterday I just bought a wireless N router it's a D-Link DIR-615
which is this one here

Now I thought this was all I need to get internet on my laptop, I did exactly wat it said on screen I followed all the instructions unplugged my power cable from modem, then connected a cable from modem to router and all of that I did everything and it seems to work but at the end of the process it says there's an error and tells me to do it again..which I did and still doesn't work.

I am new to this I don't know for sure what I need to do like am I missing something, do I need to buy something else..to get internet...
can someone please just tell me step by step what I need to do, what I need to buy..like do I need just a router or something else as well..
should I return this one..??
Please help me out.

Do I need a wireless N USB adapter..?
What's it for?

That laptop has build-in wireless capability, you don't need the USB adapter.

Really? Then why won't it work when I install my router?

Is that all I need tho is just a router..?
Maybe you can rec. a better one then..cuz this isn't working for me..
maybe a linksys one..that's easy to set up too..

Well, you have to also configure the wireless router and then search for and connect to wireless networks.
