Low speed connection.
I've been calling verizon constantly for 2 weeks now to no end. I signed up for the 700 something KB internet, and then quickly decided it wasn't fast enough and upgraded to 3MB. After they finally put my upgrade through and started my 3MB service, my connection speed only went up to about 800KB. So I called them about 20 times to no avail. Finally a tech came out today, inspected everything, and gave me a new modem saying it must be the problem. She left before I had gotten the modem set up and running... and what a surprise it's STILL testing around 800KB. My theory is that maybe the 6100F modem they gave us isn't capable of 3MB. I have no idea whether that could really be it or not. I would greatly appreciate any ideas on my problem. I'm so sick of trying to get it to work I almost want to chuck my computer out of the window.

Re: Low speed connection.
I'm pretty sure that modem will do 3mbit if the service will support it.
Register at DSLReports and run their Line Quality Tests. It's best to run this test with a direct wired connection to eliminate any wireless issues from the results. It's useful many times to run this test several times, and we'd like to see each of the results. Post the results link from the top of the test display page for each test run here. The link to post is near the top of the page and looks like: If you wish to post this result to a forum, please copy/paste this URL http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2357195 <- sample only, yours will obviously be different! and your IP will be disguised. Copy/paste that link here. Note: You will have to enable PING (ICMP) request response either in your router (if you have one), or in your computer's firewall for direct modem connections. This is very important to get the most important part of the test to run.
