Internet drops out on networked computer.

Hi, I think this is the right place for this but I apologise if it isn't (I'm new ).

I have 2 computers, the first one is connected directly to the internet by cable and the second one is networked (by cable) to the first sharing the internet connection.

On the second computer the internet keeps randomly dropping out, sometimes 5-6 times in 10 minutes, the time its down for is also random but usually a few minutes. Repairing the connection sometimes works but not always so it might just be a coinsidence.

But when this happens the internet connection on the first computer is fine, so I'm guessing theres something wrong with the computer and not the ISP or modem e.t.c.

I really havn't got a clue what to do with it, please ask if you need any more information and i'll post it.
Cheers, James.

Re: Internet drops out on networked computer.

Have you tried connecting the second computer directly to the Internet to see if it's stable that way? Have you checked the cable? Did you look in the Event Log to see if any errors were logged on either of the computers when the connection drops?
