I have almost exactly the same problem. I have a wrk54g router I replaced my computer with a newer one, now I can't find the router installation cd. The computer is not directly plugged into the router, but has an adapter/receiver plugged into a usb port. I am very confused. If I don't need a driver, should I just use firmware? (Make: Linksys Wireless G 2.4 GHz 802.11g broadband router, model: wrk54g, no version listed so I believe it is version 1, with XP).

Even though it appears you're having the same problem, please start a new thread when you have a new issue. It's very difficult to keep two problems straight and who's working on what in a single thread.

You don't need a router install CD, but you do need to make a wired connection to the router to do initial setup.
