Ping problems.

Hello, Hello.

I have been havin' a lot of issues with my ping lately, mainly when in online games, But..Outside of gaming as well, spikes anywhere from 20-200.
Now, Before this last week, It was only every now and then, But it now seems that it is in constant spike. Hanging from 90-200 in game, and outside of game, 80-600. I am currently using 1mb internet. I have tried and checked many...many things..

Such as, Checking my PC for Viruses, Malware, Adware, Checking all the household lines, Power cycling my modem, and router, Checking that there is no downloads going..Checked the signal on the cable modem..(It's fine, btw.) You name it, I have pretty much done it...and all of this has so far yielded no results. Was curious if you all had any suggestions?

I have already contacted my ISP, and they made a horribly mediocre attempt at fixing and helping me..and JUST to give you a clue at how clueless my ISP is...They somehow think a 200 ping is acceptable for online gaming, As told to me by the tech I spoke with, Who was obviously hired from an ad on the back of a box of Fruit loops.

So, thanks for reading guys. :)

EDIT: Also, Forgot to add, Whenever I ping my default gateway, It shows spikes..20-200..Dunno if that helps..But there yah go..

Re: Ping problems.

Register at DSLReports and run their Line Quality Tests. It's best to run this test with a direct wired connection to eliminate any wireless issues from the results. It's useful many times to run this test several times, and we'd like to see each of the results. Post the results link from the top of the test display page for each test run here.

The link to post is near the top of the page and looks like:

If you wish to post this result to a forum, please copy/paste this URL
http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2357195 <- sample only, yours will obviously be different!
and your IP will be disguised.

Copy/paste that link here.

Note: You will have to enable PING (ICMP) request response either in your router (if you have one), or in your computer's firewall for direct modem connections. This is very important to get the most important part of the test to run.

Re: Ping problems.

Try running a couple more, that one is marginal, I'd like to see if it gets better or worse.

Re: Ping problems.

There are issues within the network, but your local loop seems fine in that one.

The issues are any packet loss on the streams, as well as ping failures on the first hop. Those are typically indicative of issues locally, most of the other errors are more likely Internet infrastructure issues.

Re: Ping problems.

So, Any suggestions to fix it, or possibly make it slightly less annoying?
Thanks for the assistance thus far. Really appreciate it.

Re: Ping problems.

I have to believe this is probably ISP related, at least the symptoms suggest that.
