need help with xbox 360 and computer network

I have an arris tm602g/ct modem with comcast as my isp.I have a lynksys etherfast 5 port workgroup switch model ezxs55w ver. 3. connected to the modem and a computer and an xbox 360 connected to the switch.There is no problem browsing with the computer but when I try to sign on to xbox live there is an ip connection error.I did ip config through a command prompt to see if the modem is dhcp enabled.,which it is.However it also revealed that its not routing enabled nor wins proxy enabled.<not sure if either is the cause but figure any info would help.Im wondering whats going on here do I have to have a router? or is there some setting/configuration Im missing? Any help is appreciated. thank you.

cmon johnwill I know if anyone can help me u can judging by ur responses on these forums.Is there more info needed? am I in the correct subforum?

Buy a broadband router, you only get one DHCP connection to a standard cable account.
