[SOLVED] USB modem internet access
My son has just got a new computer on Vista Home Premium to replace an old HP on XP. He has an old Speedtouch 530 ethernet/USB modem set up in his bedroom where the phone line comes in. From there the ethernet cable goes to the lounge room where he had his old comp set up. He could run his old comp and a laptop from this setup (they weren't networked - just able to access internet). He wants now to have his computer in his room so has tried to connect to the internet via the USB connection from the modem without success.
The ethernet connection is still working (the laptop is now in the lounge room) The modem does show in the device manager as working. The message he gets when going into Network and sharing center is that the LAN connection is not working. Does he need to reconfigure the modem? If so how? (he has lost the CD that came with the modem) or would it be easier to get anew router/modem How does he set this up to work - all he wants is internet access for his desktop in his room and for another desktop (the old HP) for his mother in the lounge room.

Re: USB modem internet access
How did he run two computers from the USB modem in the past? Sounds like he had ICS configured. More details please.
