Not able to get the cable modem and router to work
I just got a new modem from my cable company. It is the Cisco Scientiific Atlanta DPc2100R2. I am not able to hook my Netgear Wireless router up to work. The Netgear router I have it the WGT624 v3. I hooked the R-45 cable directly from the modem to the router and it keeps saying the internet plug is not connected. Now if I directly connect the R-J45 cable directly from the modem to the computer I get the Internet. I don't know what needs to be done to get the router to work with the modem to get on the internet. Can you help? I am definitely confused. It worked fine when I had the Surf Motarola modem. Any step by steps instructions

Reset the router to factory defaults by holding the reset button down for 15 seconds with power on. The following procedure should get you a connection with any broadband modem that is configured to use DHCP for the router connection, such as cable modems, and many DSL modems. If you require PPPoE configuration for the DSL modem, that will have to be configured to match the ISP requirements.
When the computer is completely booted, let's see this. Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt: In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.
