Bad cable modem and wireless router?
First post to a site like this, but I do need some tech help here.
My computer: Dell Inspiron 1525, Windows Vista (2007), Service Pack 1. Current CABLE modem: D-Link DCM 200 (I think its pretty old) Current wireless router: D-Link DI-524 My wireless was working fine in my apartment. However if friends came over they could never get on my internet. So, I thought I would reset everything and see if that changed anything. Now I can't use the wireless function. I followed the instructions for the wireless router, went through the "wizard" and tried restarting my computer - only to find I could not connect wirelessly. I can only connect via an Ethernet connection from my computer to the wireless router (there's another Ethernet cable running from the router to the cable modem). I've tried resetting the router while it was turned on, turned off, cable modem plugged in, cable modem unplugged, etc. What else can I try or is it time to just go out and buy new? If the answer is buy new - is there a way to purchase the cable modem and wireless router in one system? (I thought I saw one from Linksys on website, not sure). Thanks for any and all help/ideas/comments! NeedTechHelp1 |
