wireless router problems, PLEASE HELP!!

hello all, i have tried a few methods of help and now its time to turn to all of your expert views.

i have a pc that has broadband internet via a speedtouch 330 modem thata is connected to pc via the usb port.
i also have a laptop that i want to connect wirelessly (using the same internet connection).
i have just purchased a netgear wireless router and netgear wireless usb adaptor for my laptop.

the installation cd's that came with these two products are pretty hopeless and i am baffled as to how i am supposed to install these. i'm not sure if the netgear router is supposed to replace the speedtouch modem etc. :4-dontkno

the fact of the matter is that i am a bit of a novice when it comes to things like this.

any help on this matter would be most grateful

thanks

Is the USB device the Netgear MA101? If so I've been having trouble with the computer software on an XP machine as well.

I've set up a couple of Netgear routers, but I know there are people here who can tell you better than I how to set it up. If no one responds today then I'll try to walk you through the setup.

If you would like to catch me on AIM some time my s/n is epos123.

As far as the installation were you able to install the wireless card?
I'm just not sure what part you're having trouble with in the installation.

I can prolly help you with the basic configurations of the router.
