Wireless and sound device malfunction

Hi guys, I need some help...

To start I am running XP pro (5.1) on an Acer Aspire 5670.

My problem is related to my wireless and sound devices. I am experiencing the
oddest symptoms. When I boot up, my wireless will connect but when I try
to "View wireless networks," I am informed that "windows cannot configure this
wireless connection." Mind you, I AM connected. See image link.

In addition, sometimes it will not connect upon system start up and I need to
restart my computer in order for it to automatically connect as starting and restarting my wireless client is not an option. I have observed the settings in my devmgmt.msc and services.msc files and they appear to be fine.

Another fun symptom is when I boot up and my wireless DOES connect but says that it is NOT connected. Please see image:

As you can see in that image, it finds the networks no problem but just will not connect. This is the exact opposite of the aforementioned problem. Also shown in the image above, the wireless zero client IS running. And yes, I have tried to restart it plenty of times.
The only explicit error message I ever get is a memory error:

More stuff:
I have no sound. I can hear the start up and shut down chimes as well as the alert prompt but never any media. Looking in my dxdiag under sound I see this:

However, my sound drivers are "working properly" in the device manager.

Dont know if this helps:
My computer will only automatically connect to the wireless upon startup if I am powered by AC. My DC settings DO allow for wireless devices so this should not be the problem. I also could not do a system restore.

I have searched for a remedy for a while now but to no avail. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Best,

Mike
