simple modem question
I assume that this will be pretty easy to answer...
I have an OLD Westell modem that runs my desktop pc and runs thru my wireless modem to my network. The ethernet cable port has come loose, and really, the modem needs to be replaced. Can I just go to the local Best Buy or whatever & get a modem, or do I need to make sure that I get something that is compatible with my desktop/network? Any suggestions for decent/affordable modems? |

Well, it clearly has to be compatible with your ISP's connection! Since you mention Westell, is this DSL? How about telling us the ISP you use?

It should be compatible, though some ISPs will customize the firmware for their service only. Since Verizon comes with a modem, what's the point of using this one?
