Internet connection keeps disconnecting...please help.

I recently had cable internet installed today, and I seem to be having connectivity problems. The modem (Motorola Surfboard 5100) seems to work fine and has 4 steady green lights under power, receive, send, and online. It also has a flashing orange light under PC activity. It seems like the modem is fine.

Problem is, I keep losing internet connectivity every several minutes and have to go to the Network Connections in the control panel to repair the Local Area Network connection. I do this and it works for several minutes before the connection drops again. I then repeat the process. I don't know why this is happening. I called the cable company and they can't seem to diagnose the problem.

I've tried disabling firewalls but to no avail; the issue persists. If anyone has any advice on how to diagnose and rectify the problem, any help would be greatly appreciated. I do not presently have a wireless router. Thanks.

Have you tried a different computer on the connection? If you don't have one, find a friend with a laptop to test. It sounds like a Comcast issue, but that will verify it. Otherwise, I'd just call Comcast and insist they fix it.
