Picking up router but no internet :S
Hi there, im a complete idiot when it comes to anything to do with this kind of thing and really need some help!
I have virgin media broadband with a cable router that we just plug straight in to the laptop! Now my uncle gave me his old wireless router a while ago he its a netgear 108mbps ADSL Router... At first when i conected it all up it seered to work, but now when i connect it my laptop picks up the router but doesnt connect to the internet now im not sure if before id accidently connected to one of my naighbours wireless and the routers never worked or if its a new problem! a friend of mine said it might have somthing to do with settings because i think it used to be used for sky? can any one help!! |

You can't use that router with your service. That router has a ADSL connection, not an Ethernet connection.
I suspect you were connected to someone else's network as you suspected.
